FTP is the most used method of transferring and sharing files over the Internet, having several advantages compared to email attachments and P2P networks. But in order to have access to a FTP server, you will first need to install a FTP client. Using the one that comes with Windows is not a very good idea, as it doesn't have a graphical interface and it's not so intuitive to use.

A simple but comprehensive FTP client is BitKinex. This Windows application allows you to easily connect to any FTP server, but also offers support for other protocols, like WebDAV, sFTP or SSH.

After the user installs the application, he will be prompted with a welcome screen and a step by step wizard, which will guide him through the process of configuring a new FTP connection. As such, he will just need to enter the server's address, username and password. After entering all the required data and connecting to the FTP site, one will be able to transfer files and folders from the local computer to the server using drag and drop, as the interface resembles the one of a regular Windows file manager.

In case the user wants to be able to connect to a FTP server using a single click, he can add it, together with the username and password, to a site manager, from where he can connect to any server with ease. What's more, there is also a quick connect option available, which doesn't require saving the FTP details in the site manager.

During a file transfer, its status will be displayed in real time in the lower part of the interface. Thus, the user will be able to spot any possible error.
